Dr. Darl Neil Peterie (March 25, 1930  -  September 27, 2024) was a Professor of Art Emeritus at Western Kentucky University and a former teacher in Missouri, Iowa, and Illinois. He received his bachelor’s degree at Truman State University and his masters and doctorate degrees at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was active in promoting the visual arts in South Central Kentucky for over 50 years as an artist, curator, and a teacher. Among his many hobbies were reading novels, watching movies, watching sports and playing musical instruments. Neil believed strongly in honesty and hard work, and instilled those beliefs in his family and his students.
